Some great tunes this week, I missed last week so here's the 2 week list.
I will probably lose a lot of street cred with this one but I'm kinda digging "Anywhere I Lay My Head" from Scarlett Johnansson. Now don't go and listen to this record and expect to be blown away with vocal chops. She is not really a singer, but the electronic vibe is refreshing.
Back to the real stuff...check out Tenth Avenue North. Its a great combination of lyrics driving the tunes but some great melody lines that run beside the lyrics. That's a mouth full. Just check it out. I've been listening to this recording today and I am really liking it. Solid lyrics, you would recognized some of the tunes from the radio. The lead vocals are crisp with tons of range.
This next guy is a beast. Jason Upton. I have a post about seeing him live, check it here. His new cd entitled "1200 Feet Below See Level. Upton is a master of writing lyrics that really make you think about your walk with Christ in a different way. Catchy melodies with power lyrics. This is a must have.
I got to mention the recording titled "Texas Sized Worship". Lots of good songs from solid guys. You might have the recording already, but its worth checking out.
Last check out the new release from Toby Mac. Now its got some new tunes but mostly its a quick release of his tunes to capture success from wining artist of the year. Its still a good lineup to songs, who could forget Jesus Freak?
